About This Group

What is fictionkin?

"Fictionkin is a subset of Otherkin. Fictionkin is a connection‚ often spiritual or psychological‚ with a fictional character and/or species. This connection is deep enough to identify as and/or with them. Fictionkin often believe that they are or were a fictional character or species either now or in a past life. Sometimes kinning is used as a coping mechanism for neurodivergent people. Both methods are equally valid!"

Terms & stuff

"Canon call - A message or post looking for people who might share memories with the poster and be from the same canon.
Kinbait/kinbaiting/baiting - Luring or baiting someone to kin as a certain character or from a certain source (typically done just for fun with friends!)
Source - Where your kin comes from (which game‚ anime‚ manga‚ etc.)
Shift - Which kin is presenting themselves the most at any given moment. Usually‚ images‚ songs‚ or objects will make someone shift into one of their kins. Depending on what shift they're in‚ their mood or attitude might change.
Valid - When someone is feeling like themselves and real! This is a VERY good thing to feel!!
Invalid - When someone isn't feeling themselves/as their kin‚ usually happens when they see a double or kin hate.
Double - Someone who also kins as the same character as you. Some people do not like doubles‚ some are iffy‚ and others are okay with doubles (usually depends on which kin specifically).
Dissociate/dissociative/dissociating - Dissociation is a mental process that causes a lack of connection in a person's thoughts‚ memory‚ and sense of identity. (Varies from person to person. Dissociation might happen when encountering a double.)"
