About This Group

What exactly is cyberpunk? Its manifesto has existed since 1994. Yet the question seems to be continuously resurrected in cyberpunk communities without ever coming to a conclusion as to a definition. What is the point of this group then? While it is true that cyberpunk may mean different things to different people‚ there certainly is a common thread. That then is what we're after.

We were the first cyberpunk group on vrc‚ and will attempt to be the most informative.

It is our goal to acknowledge that cyberpunk needs a modern day adaptation that suits users in the year 2023 . Thus this group is for those seeking community‚ with other like-minded cyber individuals.

In a ever-encroaching dystopia where our data is constantly being observed‚ sold‚ and used to manipulate us; through algorithms‚ ads‚ or subversive tactics from politicians. This exists alongside other problems of corporate lobbying‚ privitization of artifical hearts‚ and many more pressing REAL issues. This is not the world we want. We seek a technological solution. This group is for those who want to connect and share their experiences in trying to enhance themselves above and beyond these issues. For those would like to avoid the fears of Jaron Lanier or other early internet legends. We aim to move closer to the original vision of the internet as a positive part of our evolution‚ by Tim Berners Lee.
