About This Group
A psychological and spiritual distortion in which an individual uses religion as a tool to inflate their ego‚ demand admiration‚ and exert control over others. Rather than seeking genuine faith‚ humility‚ or service‚ the religious narcissist twists spiritual language‚ rituals‚ or authority to promote themselves as superior‚ righteous‚ or uniquely chosen. This often involves moral grandstanding‚ judgmentalism‚ and the manipulation of others under the guise of piety. Religious narcissism corrupts faith by turning what should be a path of love and humility into a platform for self-worship and domination.

Pride and False Piety

* Matthew 6?1-2 Do not practice righteousness to be seen by others.
* Matthew 23?5-7 They love honor and titles‚ doing deeds for show.
* Luke 18?11-12 The Pharisee exalted himself in prayer.

Hypocrisy and Exploitation

* 2 Timothy 3?1-5 Lovers of self with only an appearance of godliness.
* Matthew 23?27-28 Outwardly righteous‚ inwardly corrupt.
* Ezekiel 34?2-4 Self-serving leaders neglect the flock.

True Faith and Humility

* Micah 6?8 Do justice‚ love kindness‚ walk humbly with God.
* Philippians 2?3-5 Count others more significant than yourself.
* James 4?6 God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.

Religious narcissism twists faith into pride‚ manipulation‚ and domination‚ opposite the Gospel of humility‚ service‚ and love.
