About This Group
In the windswept steppes north of the Black Sea of Cumania‚ the scattered tribes of the Kipchaks once lived as rivals‚ raiding and feuding among themselves as often as they fought outsiders. But the coming of a great faminewhen herds died and rivers froze too deepforced the clans to seek unity or perish.

It was then that a warlord named Altun rose among the Kipchaks. Some say he was of low birth‚ others that he carried the blood of ancient khagans. He was famed not only for his skill with the bow but for his gift of speech? he could turn enemies into allies around the campfire. Altun declared that the gods of the steppe demanded one people‚ one banner‚ if the Kipchaks were to survive.
