What is yumeshipping?

Yumeshipping is the act of shipping an oc or yourself with an existing fictional character (usually from games or shows but anything is fine!)

Types of yumeshippers

Self-Insert yumes - shipping yourself with a fictional other
OC x F/O yumes - shipping an oc of yours with a fictional other
Platonic yumes - you see your fictional other as someone platonic. (A best friend‚ sibling‚ etc.)

What is an f/o?

F/O stands for fictional other. A fictional other can be a fictional character you see romantically‚ comforting or having an emotional connection with.

Common yume terms

Yumejoshi - The J*panese term used for women or women-aligned individuals that engage in self-shipping.
Yumedanshi - The J*panese term used for men or men-aligned individuals that engage in self-shipping.
F/O - Fictional other
Non-sharing - Individuals that don't feel comfortable interacting with those that share the same f/o('s) as them.
Double - Having the same f/o as someone else.
Self-insert Usually a character created by a yumeshipper to represent themselves.

The reason can vary‚ some people do it as a coping mechanism‚ some may do it just for fun and sometimes there's other reasons‚ but those are the main two.
