Theosis is a teaching that derives from the Bible. 2 Peter 1?4 "By which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises‚ that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature‚ having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust." The teaching also comes from Christ Himself. John 10?34‚ Jesus says‚ "You are gods."We do not become literal gods‚ but we partake in God's uncreated grace‚ or energies. We bare God's image and likeness‚ so we are called to participate in God's grace. The Church and the early fathers teach that we must have great faith‚ partake in the mysteries of the Church‚ and have humility. You can only achieve theosis through the Eastern Orthodox Church‚ there is one head Who is Christ Jesus and one body which is the Church. This is the teaching of the One Holy Catholic Eastern Orthodox Church.
