About This Group
An "alter ego" means an alternate self‚ which is believed to be distinct from a person's normal or true original personality.
Alter ego can also refer to the second‚ hidden side of one's own self.
"the part of someone's personality that is not usually seen by other people"
Additionally‚ the altered states of the ego may themselves be referred to as "alterations".

An alter-ego is literally another self‚ an invented/ created second personality/ identity that is wholly separate and unique from their original self. A person uses this other self as a way to act or behave in a way different from their normal personality.

Why do people create alter egos?
An alter ego allows us to distance ourselves from the negative emotions that may stifle us when we feel the pressure‚ whatever the situation may be. A way to de-stress in some cases‚ or in others give ourselves that confidence boost we need but can't seem to get under our usual self.
