Alter Ego （アルターエゴ‚ Arutā Ego?）‚ an existence taken out of or separated from a certain Spirit Origin and altered （一つの霊基から摘出、あるいは分離し、変化した存在?）‚ is a non-standard Extra Servant Cla*s comprised of beings that are split off from another. Differing from Alter Servants that are an alternate side or interpretation of a Heroic Spirit‚ Alter Egos are a phenomenon where ＂one persona of that Heroic Spirit gains independence as a separate entity＂; essentially‚ they are personifications of the original being's emotions‚ wishes‚ or personality traits that have developed minds of their own. Artoria Pendragon is the same person as Artoria Pendragon Alter‚ while BB and Pa*sionlip are unique individuals.

However‚ serving as a central theme explored within the chapter‚ the Alter Ego Ordeal Call delves into the intricacies of individuals' multifaceted personas and emotions. It scrutinizes how individuals can undergo transformations when certain facets of their personality and emotions come to the forefront. While Chaldea's initial understanding of Alter Egos is that they represent the isolation of specific aspects or emotions into distinct entities‚ a deeper interpretation reveals that this isolation serves as a manifestation of how the original possessor of said aspect or emotion might have evolved along a different trajectory in life had they followed it.

However‚ the haphazard creation of Alter Egos‚ as depicted in the chapter‚ can lead to perilous outcomes where singular aspects become excessively potent without the tempering influence of other emotions and sentiments. For instance‚ the portrayal of Bluebeard as the embodiment of the negative traits of Gilles de Rais‚ devoid of his historical context‚ exemplifies the potential dangers inherent in such reckless creations.

The term Alter Ego is not limited to a Servant cla*s‚ but also the Servant's very state of being. It's possible for an Alter Ego to be of another Servant cla*s while still being an Alter Ego. Both the Sakura Five and the Tamamo Nine are comprised of Alter Egos.
