About This Group
This is a group of individuals whose interest in mustelids extends beyond aesthetics‚ villainous Disney-like portrayals and sensationalistic narratives perpetuated by pseudo-educational clickbait. Rather than regurgitate negative stereotypes‚ glorify or romanticise mustelids‚ we seek to learn about their true behaviour‚ capabilities and struggles in the hope to better understand and respect them.

Too often unsubstantiated myths‚ hasty generalisations and anthropocentric beliefs about the nature of some mustelids have contributed to irrational fear and stigma‚ which can and have lead to unnecessary killings. Frequent wildlife misidentification on social media has also been consequential‚ as some species are prone to being blamed for behaviours characteristic of other animals.

We inspire to improve how mustelids are portrayed in media by creating and encouraging a more down-to-earth representation of the family. We do so in the form of art‚ crafts‚ 3D modelling‚ literature‚ photography‚ wildlife education and simply word-of-mouth.
