About This Group

On January 20‚ 2025‚ POTUS signed an executive order renaming the Gulf of Mexico to the "Gulf of America." This decision was part of the "Restoring Names That Honor American Greatness" initiative‚ aimed at promoting American heritage.

February 9‚ 2025 following this directive‚ the U.S. Board on Geographic Names and the Department of the Interior implemented the name change‚ updating official federal records to reflect the new designation. The U.S. Geological Survey also incorporated the updated name into its official documentation.
