Showbiz Pizza Place was a popular 1980s family entertainment center and restaurant chain known for its Rock-afire Explosion animatronic band‚ arcade games‚ and pizza. It was founded in 1980 and was a direct competitor to Chuck E. Cheese but eventually merged with its competitor after the latter filed for bankruptcy in 1984. Showbiz locations were subsequently rebranded to the Chuck E. Cheese name‚ and the Rock-afire Explosion was retired by 1992.
